A little black labrador was dropped from CIA’s explosive detection program because she ‘wasn’t enjoying’ her training.
Lulu, a one-and-half-year-old pup, was apparently ‘acting lazy, guessing where odours were and showing a general disregard’ in her training with the Fairfax County Police Department in Virginia, US, this week.

So the force ‘fired’ the smallest puppy in its class, a call it described as ‘difficult’ but ‘the best for Lulu’.
It said in a series of tweets on Wednesday: ‘Our trainers’ top concern is physical & mental well-being of K9s.
‘Lulu wasn’t interested in searching for explosives. Even when motivated w food & play, she was clearly no longer enjoying herself.
‘They made difficult decision & did what’s best for Lulu: stop her training.’
Lulu has now been adopted by her handler.
She spends her time ‘playing with his kids, sniffing out rabbits and squirrels in the backyard, and eating meals and snacks out of a dog dish.’
The tweet announcing the decision to stop Lulu’s training has been liked more than 3,000 times, with many Twitter users praising the force.
One user wrote: ‘Dogs are like people…even if someone is able to do a job, doesn’t mean they like it or are cut out for it. Thank you, CIA, for having Lulu’s best interests at heart.’
‘Please hug Lulu,’ urged another.
