Seven-year-old girl writes to Zara asking to model for the boys’ section

This is seven-year-old Eliza Brichto.
She’s hoping to become a Zara kidswear model.
But she doesn’t want to be snapped in their frilly dresses and cute knits; Eliza wants to model their boys’ range.
And she’s written to the Spanish brand explaining why.
‘Dear Zara, My name is Eliza and I’m seven-years-old,’ the letter begins.
‘I’m writing to you because I would like to model for Zara boys.
‘You might think that it’s quite weird that a girl wears boys clothes but anyway let me tell you the story. When I was four, I looked at Zara girls and I wasn’t really sure about the girls’ clothes but then I had a little look at the boys’ clothes and I loved them,’
She says that the only place she shops for clothes now is the boys’ section at Zara.
She’s even posed for a number of photos of her wearing her favourite Zara clothes to show how well she rocks them.
Eliza is still waiting to hear back from Zara but her mum Jess isn’t giving up hope yet.
‘I’m so proud of Eliza in that she has never been afraid to be herself – whatever anyone else thinks,’ she tells the Independent.
‘And I believe it would be such a brilliant recognition of this if Zara could acknowledge that their boy’s clothes can look just as great on girls.’
She says that Eliza vowed to stop wearing dresses after being forced to wear a bridesmaid outfit aged three.
‘She’s always been interested in clothes however but just never felt girls clothes were for her.’
In 2016, Zara dropped its ‘Ungendered’ line of unisex loungewear and last year, the brand also brought out a range of gender-neutral coats.
So Eliza may well just realise her dream.
