The Master could make a grand return to Doctor Who – if this fans theory turns out to be right.

Doctor Who fans last saw the Master, or rather Missy, at the end of series 10 she was shot by the Master, played by John Simm, who wounded her beyond the point of regeneration and she died of her injury.

The fate of Simms Master is unclear, so theres every chance he could meet the thirteenth Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker.

Fans and fandoms love their theories, and Reddit user Danochy has come up with a few good ones that would enable the Master to return and cause trouble once more.

Danochy said: So with Missys death in The Doctor Falls it makes me wonder how theyll bring back the character in in few TV episodes. Ive identified 6 places where they could logically place an incarnation.

They detail moments pre-Time War and before Roger Delgados era that would allow for potential incarnations, and suggested bringing in Alex Macqueen, who played the Master in the Big Finish audio stories, to play the role on screen.

Television Programme: Doctor Who with Peter Capaldi as The Doctor and Michelle Gomez as Missy. Turning to more recent Who, they added: Between John Simm and Michelle Gomez – Simm was never actually seen to regenerate into Michelle Gomezs incarnation, so for all we know there could be multiple incarnations between them. I find this the most likely.

Post-Michelle Gomez – we all know how the Master has a habit of coming back from the dead. Maybe shell do the same again!

We would love to see Jodies Time Lord facing off against the Doctors arch-enemy, as the relationship between the Doctor and the Master has always been messy and entertaining.

Opening up about landing the biggest role of her career to Radio Times, Jodie revealed that theres a heavy weight lifted from her shoulders thanks to the near-unanimously welcoming reaction from fans and hurling the rule book out of the window.

I was obviously delighted that when my name was announced, I wasnt completely slated – although maybe I was? Maybe I was just given sugar-coated information because everyone I spoke to was like, “People love you!” she told Radio Times magazine.

As long as most people are happy, Im all right with that because the fans are so loyal and so passionate, and its a huge deal to them. And obviously for Whovians this time the change has taken a very different direction than it has before.

She continued: In a way, though, there is liberation in that new direction: the pressure is less for me because I can only do this my way. All the rules are out the window! Thats what makes it so fun.

Doctor Who is set to return later this year.
