A Washington DC university is in lock down after reports of an active shooter on campus.
Police were called to Howard University on Tuesday afternoon.

At least one building has been evacuated and staff and students have been told to take shelter.
A spokesperson for the university said: ‘This afternoon, we were anonymously notified of a potential shooter on campus. We took the call seriously and police are investigating.
‘Because the safety of our students and staff are our number one priority, the Admin Bldg has been evacuated.

‘Police are currently conducting a sweep of campus. All students and staff should stay in place and shelter in place until further notification.’
A spokesperson for Washington DC Police Department said officers were still on the scene as of 1pm and have yet to find anything to confirm reports of an active shooter.
Photos of emergency services lining streets around the university are flooding social media.
One Instagram user wrote: ‘There’s a possible active shooter on campus! I can’t leave… I just wanna go home!’
