Kristin Chenoweth was put in an awkward situation on Good Morning Britain after being grilled over whether she had a ‘problem’ with Harvey Weinstein following sexual harassment allegations.
The 49-year-old actress appeared on the daytime show opposite hosts Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid, when she was asked what she’d like to say in the wake of many Hollywood actresses making sexual harassment claims against Harvey Weinstein.
Speaking on the show, Kristin said: ‘I would like to say that, first of all I’m deeply hurt for the women. I like to see them coming out strong and not being victims.
‘I hate it for any woman or man that this has happened to, and let’s be honest, I don’t know of somebody who hasn’t had situations they’ve had to get out of.
‘I find myself doing like a weird arm fart noise, I just try to be funny. But the truth is we shouldn’t have to do that stuff.’
Noticing she was slightly uncomfortable with the question, Madeley pressed a little further and asked directly if she had a ‘problem’ with Harvey Weinstein in the past.
‘I really don’t want to comment on that at this point,’ Kristen said.
‘What I’d like to say is that I think there could be good that comes from it, I think this is the beginning. I think we’ll see it in music and fashion and all kinds of things. And sometimes chaos happens before order.’
Bizarrely, Madeley commented mid-answer, ‘It sounds like a yes.’
Game Of Thrones star Lena Headey has become the latest actress to make claims against Harvey Weinstein, detailing a particularly troubling account on Twitter.
Kristin is known for a number of roles across musicals and TV shows, including Wicked, The West Wing, Glee and The Good Wife.
You can catch Good Morning Britain weekdays on ITV at 6am.
