Philippe Coutinho believes Mohamed Salah’s explosive pace and movement off the ball have been the main factors behind his explosive start to his Liverpool career.

The Egypt international has been hailed as the signing of the season having scored 14 goals in 18 games since his £35million move from Roma in the summer.

Salah had previously failed to make an impact at Chelsea where he was handed only limited opportunities to showcase his talent under Jose Mourinho.

Following a highly successful spell in Italy with Fiorentina and Roma, Salah has returned to England a completely different prospect and his thriving at Liverpool alongside the likes of Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

‘It’s his movement,’ explained Coutinho.

‘He’s a very quick player and he’s always trying to move so that he can get into empty space and that makes it easier for whoever has the ball, I always say that.

‘I hope to be able to make the best of my chance to play with him and to be able to help the team.

‘He’s a great player. Everyone – us and the fans – have been really impressed with the way he’s settled in here, the way he’s adapted to the team in a new country.

‘Everything is fully deserved, he’s a great bloke, he always trains hard and he’s there when we need him – that is good for Liverpool.’
