Stormzy’s interview on BBC Breakfast on Friday certainly attracted its fair share of attention – but for all the wrong reasons.

Because while the grime star certainly had plenty to say for himself and new single Blinded By Your Grace, it was the clip of his performance of Shut Up at Glastonbury which had the viewers gasping.

Why? Oh, because it featured some random footage of a crowd member dressed as a policeman and wielding a sex toy.

And if that’s not enough to make you choke on your cornflakes then we don’t know what is.

If presenters Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty noticed anything then they certainly didn’t mention it – confining themselves to saying that Stormzy simply ‘jumps around’ a lot on stage.

But the folks at home certainly had a few thoughts on the matter.

Are BBC breakfast aware that they just played a VT of someone waving a big dildo at Stormzy’s Glastonbury set? #bbcbreakfast

Hugely enjoying BBC Breakfast introducing Stormzy's interview with a clip of his Glasto performance… Including an audience member waving an enormous black dildo ? #oops

Nope, you can safely say that didn’t go unnoticed. And slightly reminds us of that time they accidentally showed a naked man during their live coverage of the festival.

A BBC spokesperson told metro.co.uk: ‘A handful of people spotted a fleeting shot of someone in the crowd at Glastonbury holding up something which seems to have caused some amusement on social media – we’re not aware that viewers took offence.’

Back on safer ground, Stormzy discussed his new track with the pair as well as revealing his plans for the forthcoming festive season.

‘It’s my mum – she’s the life of the party on Christmas Day. I’ve got a small, quite close-knit family so my mum holds it all together,’ he explained – although admitted that his shopping was often left until the last minute.

‘Christmas Eve, that’s my day to hit the road and try and get everyone’s presents!’ Stormzy confessed.

Just as long as he doesn’t forget anybody…
