Uniting national treasures Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders once again, this Christmas anniversary special will take a look back at the highlights of their work, with some extra special new sketches thrown in as well.

Here’s everything you need to know about 300 Years Of French And Saunders.

What is it?

An anniversary special to celebrate 30 years since Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders first teamed up together – you can expect to see their greatest hits, some never before seen footage, and of course some brand new sketches too.

Dawn French confirmed that the special would see the pair spoofing recent popular TV series’ like The Handmaid’s Tale, Poldark, and reality TV like Love Island.

Who’s in it?

You can, of course, expect to see Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders in the special – obviously.

You’ll recognise the pair not only from their sketch show, but also their successful independent careers too – Dawn French from The Vicar Of Dibley, for example, and Jennifer Saunders in Absolutely Fabulous.

In fact, this Christmas special will feature a special appearance from Jennifer Saunders’ Absolutely Fabulous co-star, Joanna Lumley.

As well as that, Eleanor Tomlinson will make an appearance in the special’s Poldark spoof, alongside many other famous faces.

Has it really been thirty years?

It has indeed. The pair first began working together in the late 1970s, and their BBC sketch show began in 1987.

The show continued on and off for the next 20 years, and they’ve reunited several times since the series ended in 2007 – particularly for Comic Relief, where the pair are regular contributors.

When’s it on? How can I watch it in the UK?

300 Years Of French And Saunders is on at 10:35pm on BBC One on Christmas Day.

Why should I watch it?

Because it’s the celebration of the anniversary of two national treasures – a look back on their time together and working relationship, and a reminder of just how funny they have always been.

With a look back at old favourites and some new material, this is a great way to end your Christmas Day.
