First look at Troy: Fall of a City – it’s fit for a king

The BBC and Netflix are gearing up for a brand new epic drama Troy: Fall Of A City, which promises an awe-inspiring take on the classic tale of war and vengeance.
The eight-part series, directed by The Night Manager’s David Farr, will air on BBC One in 2018 and will see a stellar cast the epic story of a battle between mortals and gods – and the origins in which set the wheels in motion for the siege of Troy.
Now, the first images for the forthcoming drama are here and cast members David Threlfall (Shameless), Frances O’Connor (The Missing), David Gyasi (Interstellar), Jonas Armstrong (Robin Hood), Johnny Harris (This Is England) star.
Louis Hunter and Bella Dayne play the lead roles of lovers Paris and Helen, whose love affair brings society to its knees.
Told from the perspective of the Trojan royal family at the heart of the siege, Troy: Fall Of A City ‘is a rich story of love, intrigue, betrayal and belonging’.
Creator David Farr said: ‘I’m delighted we’ve assembled such a high-quality ensemble cast, mixing some exciting new faces with experienced actors whom I have long coveted and admired.’
‘The story we’re telling has an epic and political sweep but is also deeply human and intimate. I look forward to seeing these actors take you on the journey,’ he said of the big budget historical drama, which is still filming in Cape Town, South Africa.
Troy: Fall Of A City is filming on location in Cape Town and will premiere in the UK on BBC One and globally outside of the UK on Netflix.
