Crystal Palace would find it hard to turn down transfer offers from Manchester City or Chelsea for Wilfried Zaha.

That is according to Palace boss Roy Hodgson, whose latest comments could well spark a bidding war for the former Manchester United attacker.

Zaha has been the star man in Hodgson’s rejuvenated side and has attracted the attentions of Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City.

Hodgson has admitted in the past Palace welcome the praise of Zaha, and has now confirmed it could be hard to hold onto the wanted 25-year-old.

‘If Wilf continues as he is doing, then the club will be faced with a situation where someone wants to put a lot of money on the table in order to prise him away,’ he said.

‘That will be a massive decision for the club because I know how much everyone at Crystal Palace appreciates him and he is the last person we want to lose.

‘It is no good making bold statements that this and that won’t happen because things do happen and when they do, you deal with them.’

Antonio Conte is desperate to add numbers to his squad while Pep Guardiola is planning a busy January to keep City’s title charge on course.

Zaha failed to make the most of his time at United, but has found new life on his return to Palace and has helped the Eagles claw their way out of the relegation zone.

Hodgson will know his comments will have peaked the interest of Zaha’s potential suitors, but insisted he was not concerned.

He continued: ‘Speculation is what it is.

‘The only time I will ever get interested in a situation is if the chairman comes to me and says there is a situation the club has to deal with.

‘In the meantime, it won’t be important for me. It’s for Steve Parish, or Wilf, to deal with speculation.’
