Where else would you find a man eating his own book, or Mel Brooks saying exactly what we all think about The One Show, or Gemma Collins falling down a hole, making her an instant national treasure?
We take a look back over our top moments from TV this year, from the bizarre to the funny to the downright crazy.
Robert Kelly gets interrupted by his kids during BBC interview
Remember this? Remember when super serious Korea expert Robert Kelly was talking about the impeachment of South Korean president Park Geun-Hye? Nobody does, because that was the exact moment his two cheeky children burst into the room and made him an internet star.
And if his two kids waltzing in at the least opportune moment was already really great, their mum – who was obviously asked to keep an eye on the kids and evidently had not – also slides into the room to pull the two unruly sprogletts out.
What’s better, Robert trying to ignore the fact that his children are running amok in his house right in the middle of his oh-so important interview, or the mum sliding in and pulling them out, trying desperately not to be seen? Honestly, it’s just the best.

Lee Nelson hands Theresa May a fake P45
During a conference speech in October, which was a disaster from start to finish thanks to a pesky cough Theresa May was suffering with, prankster Lee Nelson reached forward and handed the Prime Minister a P45.
This is not the first time Nelson has got away with infiltrating a political event – remember just last year when he presented Donald Trump with swastika golf balls?
One of the major questions we were left with after Lee Nelson’s little stunt is this: who keeps letting him into these events?! Just remember his face, guys!

The infamous Oscars mix-up
On a scale of one to awkward, this one was off the chart.
Let us set the scene for you: It was Oscars night. It was down to the final award. The big one. Ryan Gosling was in a tux. We repeat: Ryan Gosling was in a tux.
Veteran actor Warren Beatty was due to announce the award for Best Picture, but he looked unsure. He looked, looked again, before co-presenter Faye Dunaway snatched the glory and announced that La La Land had won.
But it had not.
Moonlight had actually won, but by the time the truth was discovered it was too late, the whole of the La La Land cast and crew were already on stage.
Just watch, it’s amazingly awkward.
Holly Willoughby and Phil Schofield left in hysterics after interviewing orgasm couple
We love a hysterical Holly and Phillip, and nothing makes us happier than seeing these two losing it over a couple who say they can naturally orgasm just by hugging.
The pair managed to keep their cool during the interview itself, but when Phil went to move on to the show’s next segment, he uttered the words ‘Still to come’ – and all was lost for the next few minutes.

Mel Brooks causing carnage on The One Show
Actor Mel Brooks, 91, read our minds when he appeared on The One Show in September and made it very clear he didn’t have a damn clue about what was going on.
One minute they were talking about toilet paper, and the next they were trying to reunite a woman with her long lost father.
‘What a crazy show this is?’ he said, as the whole studio – besides Alex Jones – burst into an awkward laughter.
Old people – they don’t beat around the bush!

Gemma Collins falling through a hole at the Radio One Teen Awards
GC is the only woman that could fall through a hole at a children’s awards show and further cement her status as a legend in everybody’s eyes.
A whole lot of Gemma drama followed the incident after revealed that she ‘peed her pants’ during her fall, and then she threatened to sue the BBC.
It’s the best gif we’ve ever been given!
When Prue Leith tweeted the winner of The Great British Bake Off before the episode aired
It’s safe to say Prue’s PR people learnt a valuable lesson this day: Never ever trust someone who doesn’t know how Twitter works with their own professional Twitter account.
‘I think that was one of the worst half an hours [of my life],’ Prue said of the incident, where she tweeted out that Sophie Faldo had won the show before it had actually aired.
‘I quickly tweeted, as soon as it went I thought, “Oh my God!” I went into a panic mode. I forgot how to work my phone and I couldn’t think how to delete it quickly.
‘I rang my trusted PA and she’d already deleted it. It was 89 seconds after I’d done it but it was already too late.’
As we all know, 89 seconds is an eternity in the Twittersphere, and people had to spend the final pretending to be surprised.
The Pointless contestant who gave her friend the death stare for getting a question wrong
They walked in bezzie mates and they left mortal enemies, thanks to one fateful answer.
On the right is Mariam. Mariam’s friend Sarah failed to come up with a country whose name ends in two consonants – despite studying Geography, and living in one of them.
She actually failed to name a country, full stop. So when Sarah finally gave an answer — ‘Paris?’ — Mariam rolled her eyes so hard we fear she might have pulled something.

Roxy and Ronnie drown in EastEnders
Never has an EastEnders episode caused such a stir since Zoe and Kat Slater’s shouty ‘You ain’t my muvva / Yes I am!’ story arch.
These two sisters, who obviously never had swimming lessons as children, drowned together in the swimming pool at Ronnie’s wedding venue as her new hubby Jack Branning snoozed upstairs with the kids.
The drowning scene was kind of artsy, but still devastating for fans of the mother of all sisters.
The London soap doesn’t often come across as majorly sincere (see ‘You ain’t my muvva!’ quote, above), but this unexpectedly pulled on the heartstrings. Touché, Eastenders, touché.

In the most ‘What?!’ news of the year, politics expert Matthew Goodwin ate his words – literally – after he wrongly predicted that Labour would win under 38 per cent of the vote in this year’s snap election.
When he made the bet, he stated: ‘I will happily eat my new Brexit book if they do.’
