Border Patrol agents stopped a DREAMer from allegedly attempting to flee the country to avoid prosecution. Agents working in Southern Arizona and California also stopped two previously deported criminal aliens with histories of violence and sexual offenses from re-entering the U.S.
Agents assigned to the San Diego Sector discovered a Honduran man near Otay Mesa, California, on January 3. The man turned himself into the agents and admitted that he illegally entered the U.S. illegally in 2005 with his parents. The DREAMer told the agents he wanted to return to his home country of Honduras, according to information obtained by Breitbart Texas from U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials. However, a records check revealed the 24-year-old DREAMer appeared to be attempting to avoid prosecution in a California court.
Agents learned the Honduran man is currently facing prosecution in a Los Angeles County court on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and sexual battery. The suspect is currently out of jail on bond, despite his status as an illegal immigrant, and was scheduled to appear in court on January 4.
Officials did not indicate whether the Honduran DREAMer had applied for or been granted DACA status.
That same day, agents working near Tecate, California, tracked the footprints of illegal immigrants who had just crossed the border. The agents followed the tracks for several hundred yards and discovered a man hiding between two large boulders, officials stated. During questioning, the agents determined the man is from Nicaragua and that he crossed the international border illegally.
The agents conducted a background investigation and learned that immigration officials previously deported the 38-year-old Nicaraguan man following his conviction on charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14.
The previously deported Nicaraguan man now faces federal prosecution for aggravated re-entry after removal as a sex offender. If convicted he could face up to 20 years in federal prison.
Officials in the Tucson Sector informed Breitbart Texas that agents assigned to the Tucson Sector arrested a 37-year-old Guatemalan national on January 4 after he illegally crossed the Mexican border near Arivaca, Arizona. The agents conducted a background investigation and learned that Walter Ramirez-Perez has a previous conviction from 2005 where he served four years in prison for criminally negligent homicide.
Ramirez-Perez now faces possible prosecution for illegal aggravated re-entry after removal as a convicted felon. He could also face up to 20 years in prison.
