The Voice viewers were given a surprise after a contestant opened the show with a throwback Disney classic.
Chris James, an audio book narrator from Norwich, appeared on the ITV show and stated how he was a huge fan of rock music – even being part of a band.
So what would he sing? Metallica? Something more contemporary like Arctic Monkeys? Scrap that, he’s doubling down on Prince Ali from Aladdin.
After his performance, judge Olly Murs turned for the rousing rendition, sending him through to the battle rounds.
Explaining his song choice, Chris said: ‘I do a lot of songs so I was like, I could do something rock, could do something country, then I was just like “oh yeah”.
‘Honestly, I just wanted to let the crowd have a good time and sing a song people like. Because that’s what I do.’
