Riverdale newcomer Hart Denton has addressed a hugely popular fan theory regarding the identity of his character Chic Cooper’s father, and he’s being very sketchy on the matter.
Chic made his debut entrance in the show’s midseason return, but featured more prominently in latest episode The Wrestler which saw the reveal of his ‘video gigolo’ job to sister Betty.
It’s the reaction of Betty’s father Hal however which has garnered the most attention, with his outraged reactions to Chic prompting fan theories his father could be someone else entirely.
The most popular theory is Chic’s father is actually Jughead’s dad FP Jones, with Betty’s mother Alice previously being outed as an ex Serpent. So could they have history together?
Speaking to Teen Vogue, actor Hart Denton was keeping quiet on whether he knew anything about the theory, saying: ‘[Laughs] I know a tiny bit, but I gotta lock my lips on that part.’

Asked about the struggle of keeping the show’s secrets, he added: ‘It’s so hard. It’s very difficult because I love talking to people. I try to respond to as many fans as I can through social media, and I try to keep it, “Thank you guys so much, sending love. Thanks for the support.”
‘They’ll ask me certain questions, and I just can’t answer them. I’m aware that Riverdale is much bigger than one thing here and there.
‘I have to be very careful with how I work around certain things, and I can’t say so much. It’s really hard to bite my lip, but it’s also very exciting.’

Riverdale’s latest episode was a slightly bizarre affair, packing ‘homoerotic’ wrestling which saw Archie and Hiram lay the smackdown on each other.
Riverdale airs Wednesdays in the US on The CW, and goes live on Netflix in the UK on Thursdays.
