Javier Pastore has revealed he wants to sign for an Italian club if he is to leave Paris Saint-Germain this month.

The PSG midfielder was the subject of bids from Liverpool and Tottenham, but turned down the chance of a Premier League transfer.

Inter Milan are believed to be monitoring Pastore’s developing situation at PSG and the Argentine has confirmed returning to Italy is his priority.

He said: ‘I want to play more since my objective is to participate in this summer’s World Cup. PSG?

‘I am happy here but at the same time, I know that I risk losing out on the World Cup.

‘I don’t know what will happen and yes there is a lot of talk about Inter Milan but let’s see. If I do leave, I would love to return to Italy since I know that league well.

‘Even so, there isn’t any decisions that have been made yet.’

Pastore has scored 44 goals in 248 appearances for PSG since joining them in 2011, but has fallen down the pecking order in Paris this season.

Only eight of Pastore’s 16 Ligue 1 appearances have been starts and he is desperate for more game time ahead of the World Cup in the summer.

Pastore would usually be a certain member of Argentine’s squad, but if the current trend at PSG continues, he may be overlooked.

Liverpool are on the hunt for an attack-minded midfielder after selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

The Reds and Spurs are believed to have placed bids in the region of £25million, but Pastore looks set to frustrate his English suitors.
