Lady Wilnelia Forsyth opened up about losing husband Bruce Forsyth in an emotional interview on This Morning.

The former actress and model had been happily married to the showbiz legend for 34 years and on Monday’s show, described the week leading up to his death and how fortunate she was to have been with him.

She said: ‘I was so lucky to have his daughters, they have been my strength and my angels.

‘Last year they stayed at the house a lot, one of them three days, one of then four days… it was wonderful.’

She added: ‘We were able to be there the last week. All the girls came to the house and we stayed in and watched movies.

‘It was a very special time and I know how lucky we are that we were able to say our goodbyes.’

Despite Bruce suffering from a fall, Wilnelia said there was always a glimmer of hope that he would recover – until he got his chest infection.

She then went on to explain how Bruce never wanted to retire and how he was sad to miss the Christmas Strictly show.

She said: ‘He retired early from Strictly and he didn’t manage to do the last show, the Christmas show.

‘But he was planning to do some travelling and continue being in showbiz somehow.

‘He wanted to enjoy being more at home with the family.’

On 21 February 2018, the 60-year-old widow will be holding an event in honour of Bruce at the London Palladium, hoping to raise money for the Puerto Rico Hurricane Maria victims.

She said: ‘If he got to 100, he wanted to celebrate his birthday at the London Palladium, so we thought it was very appropriate for us to have his celebration there.’
