Manchester United have announced the signing of goalkeeper Matej Kovar from FC Slovacko.

The Red Devils have had a stellar transfer window after signing Alexis Sanchez last week, but are expected to have a quiet deadline day.

The window closes at 11pm, but United have closed one deal after confirming the capture of a goalkeeper.

Kovar is a Czech Republic’s Under-18s international and the 17-year-old has put pen to paper on a professional contract.

The transfer is subject to international clearance and Kovar will now link up with the rest of United’s academy players.

Kovar is expected to play in Kieran McKenna’s Under-18’s team as he works towards breaking into Jose Mourinho’s senior side one day.

United already have a host of options in goal with David de Gea as the established No.1 and Sergio Romero acting as the back-up to the Spaniard.

Romero has been hotly tipped to leave the club in the summer to return home to Argentina while De Gea is a reported target for Real Madrid.

Youth star Joel Castro Pereira featured for 12 minutes in the EFL Cup this season, and the 21-year-old has been called to the bench on eight occasions this campaign by Mourinho.
