The United Kingdom will no longer give funding to Oxfam due to alleged sexual misconduct of aide workers, the Associated Press reported Friday.

English-taxpayer money will no longer go to international charity organization Oxfam after allegations aide workers sexually exploited victims in crisis zones, the Associated Press reported. Oxfam administration conceded to no public funds until its conditions improved. (The aid group received approximately $43.8 million from the British government in 2016-17.)

Allegations grew after senior aide workers were accused of paying for prostitutes and downloading pornography while helping the Haiti 2010 effort. Oxfam allegedly covered up the scandal following reports that volunteers as young as 14 were facing sexual abuse, The Guardian added. After an investigation, Oxfam fired four people and let another three resign, however, the British government still criticized the organization for a lack of transparency.

“Clearly Oxfam have a long way to go before they can regain the trust of the British public, their staff and the people they aim to help,” international development secretary Penny Mordaunt said. “The actions and attitude of the organization over the coming weeks will be critical,” she added.
