Coral Springs (Fla.) police sergeant Jeff Heinrich spoke at a press conference Friday about his experience witnessing the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school last week.

Heinrich describes how he got a student who had a “massive gunshot wound” on his ankle out of harm’s way.

He also describes how he encountered another law enforcement officer, received a SWAT vest and gun from him, and then cleared the area towards the school.

This heartbreaking video comes on the same day that it was discovered that four Broward County deputies did not enter the school while the shooting was going on. (RELATED: Report: Four Deputies Waited Outside School During Shooting)
