Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon will make a sickeningly low amount of money next season.

Gordon will only make $790,000 for the 2018 season, according to Cleveland.com writer Mary Kay Cabot.

As expected, the #Browns have tendered Josh Gordon as an exclusive rights free agent. He’ll make 2 year vet min of $790,000 in ’18, just $15.19M less than Jarvis Landry

There is simply no way to justify the fact that Gordon is making pennies on the dollar. Yes, I understand that it’s his own fault that he ended up out of the league over and over again. However, the man is one of the best receivers on the planet, and he’s being paid like a third string quarterback.

I would have zero problem inking Gordon to a deal worth more than $10 million a year right this second if I were the Browns. He has zero reason to stay committed to Cleveland, and might bounce as quickly as he can. The only way to stop that is to lock him up with some serious cash.

The only obvious upside here is that this gives Cleveland some serious power with the salary cap. Hopefully, they find a way to use it successfully, and not blow it.

It’s been a blast to see Gordon come back from multiple suspensions and rehab. I truly do believe he’s going to eventually cash in big time, and I can’t wait to see that day.
