Oklahoma’s Trae Young Declares For The NBA Draft

Oklahoma’s star guard Trae Young declared for the NBA draft Tuesday morning.
Young wrote the following in his draft announcement on ESPN:
Within me, there is still so much of that little boy waiting outside of the Thunder’s downtown Oklahoma City arena, waiting for the doors to swing open and reveal a star player on the court, preparing for greatness. Those nights made me fall in love with the process of fulfilling my potential as a player, and that becomes my full-time occupation now. Goodbye OU, and hello NBA. As always, I am ready to get to work.
I’m sure Young is a cool dude and a nice guy. I’m not so sure that he’s going to last in the NBA. His favorite thing in the world to do on the court is to jack up shots from wherever he touches the ball. Let’s not sit here and pretend like he made Oklahoma a contender. He most certainly didn’t.
His team only won two games since the start of February, and got shown the exit door during the opening round of March Madness. That’s not exactly the winning mentality NBA general managers want to see.
Young is addicted to dominating the ball. That’s a great mentality to have if you can shoot your team to wins, which as proven above is not something he did. He’s a fun player to watch, but if he couldn’t win in college, I’m really not sure how he’s going to do it in the NBA.
