Loyola University Chicago and Sister Jean are headed to the Elite Eight, and that’s good news for the world of college basketball.
March Madness is a jungle where anything is possible. Loyola has a bunch of players who wouldn’t have caught the attention of any major programs out of high school. Their entire roster features only a trio of three-star athletes. The three of them had a combined three scholarship offers from Power Five conference schools. That’s laughable when compared to pretty much every other school in the tournament.

Doesn’t matter. Loyola has defeated Miami, Tennessee and Nevada, high-profile programs that featured major recruits. It didn’t make a difference in the end. That’s what college basketball is all about. Two teams take the court, and one team leaves with a win. You can have a bunch of major recruits, and at the end of the day when the chips are down, it still might not be enough to save you.
Then, we have Sister Jean! She’s quickly becoming the biggest star of March Madness. I feel bad for teams that have to play Loyola. Sister Jean appears to have some magical powers that are always just enough to get them a win. It’s pretty hard to beat a team with God on their side.
