Claire Danes made it clear today thatHomeland will end with Season 8. When Howard Stern noted in an interview with the actress on his Sirius XM show that the Showtime drama was ending after the upcoming eighth season, she responded, “yeah, thats it.”

Danes said she is “conflicted” about the long-running terrorism drama series coming to an end, but shes ready, adding “Shes a lot, this Carrie-freakin Mathison character.” Noting that Carrie “is under constant duress,” Danes told Stern “Its a workout,” so “Ill be ready for a reprieve from that.”

Danes also announced on the show that she is pregnant and is in her second trimester. This will be Danes and husband Hugh Dancys second child; they have a 5-year-old boy.

Like Danes first pregnancy, the second one also is not expected to affect the shows production. Homeland is not expected to go back in production on Season 8 before end of year.

Homeland was renewed for Seasons 7 and 8 ahead of the sixth season. At the time, the Emmy-winning series executive producer/showrunner Alex Gansa told Deadline that his team would be writing an ending to the series in Season 8, but was quick to point out that it is ultimately Showtimes decision when to wrap the series. While the 2019 ed date had long been rumored and the deals for most key auspices on the show are believed to be up after Season 8, the network is yet to announce whether Homeland will be ending after eight season.
