Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa recently admitted that he had one foot out the door and was ready to quit the team prior to the national title game.

There had long been rumors that the freshman phenom was going to leave if he didnt enter the title game against Georgia, and now we know it for sure. (RELATED:

He recently told Hawaii News Now:

I called my dad and asked him if my offer to the University of Southern California was still available. I wanted to leave. I told my dad I wanted to go to a school where I thought itd be easier for me and wouldnt challenge me so much…Even throughout my football season, I wasnt the starter. I wanted to leave the school. So I told myself if I didnt play in the last game, which was the national championship game, I would transfer out. If I gave in, I dont think I would have seen the end blessing of where I am now.

I dont understand why hes admitting that he almost quit on his team and transferred. Isnt that a bad thing to do if you want your teammates to like you?

I understand why hed want to leave. I fully understand wanting to not sit on the bench. That makes plenty of sense, but Im not going to let the whole world know. Id keep my mouth shut publicly shut, and deal with things internally.

Hes also in the middle of a major quarterback battle with Jalen Hurts. Again, maybe dont say or do things that make the team think you were ever anything less than 100 percent committed.
