The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) appointed its first female president in the organizations 226-year history, according to a Monday report.

Current Chief Operating Officer Stacey Cunningham will start her new job as the 67th president Friday. The news comes as current president Thomas Farley announced he would be leaving the NYSE for an acquisition company that will raise money to buy financial-technology companies, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Cunningham first came to the NYSE in 1994 as a summer intern and has worked her way up to the highest position in the company. “I loved the place right out of the gate and now Im excited to be running it,” she said in an interview. (RELATED: Heres Where The Stock Market Was One Week Ago)

This announcement means the two largest stock-exchange operators, NYSE Group and Nasdaq, will be run by women, as Adena Friedman became president of Nasdaq in January 2017.
