Ridley Scotts terrifying xenomorph has been off the boil for a while now, with fans having to put up with various disappointing or lacklustre offerings for years.
Prometheus looked beautiful and had A-list talent coming out of its ears, but not even that could save the film. And, well… Alien: Covenant was generally just a little stale and off.
However, with no word on when the next instalment of the post-Prometheus trilogy is coming hype around the films has once-again died down.
Until now…because, an Alien TV series is rumoured to be firming up for either a network or streaming service debut.
According to Omega Underground sources have revealed that a show set within the Alien universe is being considered by 20th Century Fox.

At this point theres no firm details about a green light or when we could expect from the show.
However, what the website does claim to know is that there is a dispute about where it would be best to home the show: streaming service or FX?
And that is supposedly one question which is stalling any further development of horror franchises serial debut.
Moving into purely speculative territory the series is thought to be leaning more towards a storyline about colonists or colonial marines within the Alien universe.
This would mean the series could indeed feature a Xenomorph/s, but also open the storyline up to new extraterrestrial threats, such as Engineers or Predators.

Its possible that the TV series could indeed come to fruition, but there is supposed to be another Alien film coming; and if that doesnt emerge its likely the TV series wont, at least if the Disney/Fox takeover goes ahead.
This deal could indeed mean big changes for the Alien franchise, and Ridley Scott himself is waiting to see what.
Earlier on this year, he spoke about the situation, saying: It looks to me that the Fox deal is certainly going to go ahead with Disney, and Ive been with Fox for a number years now. Im hoping Ill still probably be there so whether or not they go ahead with such a dark subject, being Disney, as aliens remains to be seen.
