Here we go with this weeks Holby City review, in which Sacha has a terrible day, Donna seeks a partner and Nicky and Meena continue to be frenemies.

Sacha first, and it breaks my heart to see him suffering, as he did right through this episode. Remember ages ago he did a bit of shoplifting and other non-Sacha behaviour and finally admitted to Essie and Jac that he has depression? It seemed to be under control, but clearly it isnt.

Various things combined to make a bad day even worse for Holbys cuddliest medic. He decided to pull the plug on his self-funded experiment when it became clear that the plug would probably have been pulled anyway after Nicky spilled something nasty the other week. His daughter Beka cancelled an arranged dad-and-daughter spa trip.

Then Patricia, the cleaner that Sacha has a soft spot for, turned him down when he admitted his feelings for her and asked her out. This was a tad inappropriate, what with her being in a hospital bed and him having just fixed her hernia (again), so it wasnt a huge surprise when she politely declined his invitation. Ive seen people being friend-zoned before, but I think this is the first time Ive ever seen anyone be so firmly doctor-zoned.

This was not the time for Jason to ask Sacha for parenting advice, but he did anyway. Sachas reply was the closest he got all episode to actually revealing how he felt inside. He said that Jason would never shake the feeling that hes not good enough, and then his daughter will leave and he wont know what his role is anymore and hell feel pointless. I was hoping for some advice on car seats, said Jason.

With Essie on the ward recovering from her surgery, Sacha had someone who understands him and sees beneath the cheery chappie facade he puts on. The scenes between Essie and Sacha were full of genuine affection and care, and it made me desperately wish they would get back together again because they really need each other.

From a mature friendship to a fairly immature one now, as Nicky and Meena once again spent a whole working day sulking, sniping and competing with each other. Despite Jacs stated zero-tolerance approach to brown-nosing, Meena (on Darwin for the day) and Nicky fell over each other to impress her. Meena said shed rather be like Jac than cuddly old Sacha, but it was Nicky who stabbed her former friend in the back by telling Jac Meena wasnt around, so she could get some interesting theatre experience. Im getting a wee bit tired of this rivalry story because it hasnt really moved on. One week its Meena doing the back-stabbing, the next week its Nicky. Occasionally they have a breakthrough where they realise their attitude isnt helpful for the patients, then the next week theyre rivals again. Whats it going to take for them to sort themselves out?

Donna was trying to get her botox business off the ground, and she needed a doctor to team up with her for prescribing purposes. Zav was quite keen to help, but Donna didnt like his attitude, so she tried Dominic and then Ric, and finally Serena. Serena suggested that Zav would be a good person to try, and pointed out that what Donna was seeing as patronising behaviour was actually viewed by Zavs patients as making them feel comforted and safe.

Donna found Zav on the roof, sitting in a deckchair in the sun sipping a drink. It actually looked a bit chilly up there, but Marcus Griffiths did a lovely job of looking blissfully relaxed. Donna admitted that the reason she was wary of him is that he reminds her of her ex (I assumed the footballer one rather than the army one). He convinced her that hes nice really, and they shook hands and agreed to become Holbys top botoxing duo.
