The Real Marigold Hotel fans disgusted as live chickens head is cut off

Viewers of The Real Marigold Hotel were left shocked after graphic scenes were aired showing a live chicken have its head chopped off by a butcher.

Syd Little, Bob Champian and Ian Tough visited the Dhan Mandi market in Jodhpur to gather ingredients for a roast dinner.

After successfully bartering for cauliflowers and potatoes, the trio negotiated dangerous traffic to find themselves some chicken.

They had hoped to find some pre-packaged chicken, but in lieu of the chicken breasts they were after, they asked the butcher if he had anything suitable. The man went into the back, taking the men with him, and pulled a live chicken from a cage.

I dont want to look, Syd Little gasped as the bird was taken in to the butchers block.

The camera then stayed firmly on the animal as the meat cleaver was raised and brought down heavily on its neck, killing it instantly.

It used to have a head! Syd cried as the deed was done. Oh dear. Well have to have that now. Well only have the one.

Sadly for Syd he was outvoted, and they ordered another.

Oh no here we go again, he moaned, before adding: Do you think because theyre so fresh theyll taste better?

Viewers of the show were shocked to watch the death of the bird, calling it unnecessary and horrendous.

And to all of the offended snowflakes watching the Chicken decapitation scene on #therealmarigoldhotel there would be a lot less supermarket plastic packaging waste, if we all reared and slaughtered our own meat at home!! Mind you, my wife would hate it as she is a vegetarian!!

The retired celebs were packed off to India for the third series of the show to see if they could master the language, the food and the culture to spend their retirement there.

Journalist Selina Scott, former politician Stanley Johnson, actor Peter Dean, The Krankies, Susan George and Stephanie Beacham all also star in the show. And happily ate the chicken.
