Ray Kelly is trying his best to keep his many bubbling secrets under wraps in EastEnders but in the wake of Hunter Owen making a surprising discovery about him, he realises that he needs to tell the truth. But how much will he tell Hunter – and will Mel find out too?

Hunter is bracing himself to expose Rays secret to Mel but the man himself interrupts him and tries to spin some lines to put the volatile teenager off the scent. However, Hunter isnt being taken for a fool and Ray decides that honesty is the only policy. Or so we think, anyway.

As he speaks to Hunter at E20, Mel rocks up and is horrified to see that her son is drinking but Hunter defensively covers for Ray. Ray continues to slip more drinks to Hunter but will this be enough to persuade Hunter to keep quiet? Or does Ray have an even darker motive at play?

Whatever happens, Hunter being left drunk thanks to Ray doesnt go down well with Mel and they are soon dramatically clashing. Later in the week, Ray is sporting an injured hand and Jack Branning is suspicious about its origins.

When Mel brushes off Jacks accusations that something is amiss, Ray soon pays a visit to him to stop him from pouring any more poison into Mels ear. As Jack reels, Ray makes it clear that he has some dirt on Jack that he wouldnt want coming to light.

With Jack where Ray wants him, the Irish newcomers next task is to keep Mels doubts at bay. As she confronts him, he works his charm but just as Mel is convinced that she can trust him again, she spots his wallet and cant resist taking a look inside.

But what will she discover?

One to watch: Monday 1st October at 8pm on BBC One.
