Daytime TV favourite Flog It! has been axed after 17 years, the BBC have confirmed.

The antique-dealing competition, fronted by Paul Martin, follows members of the public bringing their prized possessions to a team of experts to be valued – much like Antiques Roadshow – will be taken off air as soon as next year with a selection of pre-recorded episodes seeing the show out in 2019.

BBC controller of daytime and programming Dan McGolpin confirmed the news, via Mirror Online, in a statement which read: If were trying to create the new generation then some of the long-running shows will have to go.

Now and again, we reach a time to move on and modernise, bringing through some new shows.

The ideas we have here are hugely scalable, they are modern and accessible, lots of fun and hugely relevant to people across the UK.

Elsewhere, The Customer Is Always Right will see three aspiring entrepreneurs launching their first businesses and testing their products on the public.
