It might not be Halloween yet, but Netflix is still aiming to scare the living daylights out of us this October with The Haunting of Hill House.
The supernatural horror series is arriving on the streaming service this week – and judging from the trailer its set to be a very creepy ride.
But what times it released, whats it based on and whos in it?

What time is The Haunting Of Hill House released on Netflix?
The series will be arriving to scare you silly on Friday October 12 at midnight California time.
Like many Netflix series, that means well be getting it here at 8am on Friday morning.

There are ten episodes in the series – and youve got the whole weekend ahead of you to binge-watch the lot.
Just dont blame us if you have trouble sleeping afterwards.
Whats the show about?
Based on the 1959 novel by writer Shirley Jackson, The Haunting Of Hill House is considered one of the best literary ghost stories of the 20th Century.
The Netflix adaptation is a modern reimagining of the story, focusing on five siblings who grew up in Americas most famous haunted house.
The synopsis tells us that they are reunited as adults by the suicide of their youngest sister – which forces them to confront the ghosts of their own pasts – some of which might well be lurking in the shadows of the titular house.
Its described as a complex family drama wrapped in a chilling horror story.
Who is in the series?
Given the action jumps between past and present, most of the main characters are played by two different actors.
Actor Henry Thomas – who found fame as a child star when he played E.Ts best friend Elliott – appears as family patriarch Hugh Crain, a role played by Timothy Hutton in the present day narrative.
Meanwhile Spy Kids Carla Gugino appears as his wife, Olivia – however as her character dies in the earlier storyline she appears only in ghost form rather than as an older incarnation of herself.

Meanwhile its directed by Mike Flanagan, who also helmed the 2017 adaptation of Stephen Kings Geralds Game for Netflix.
