Emmerdale star Charley Webb has revealed that she is glad to put the acid attack storyline uncertainty to rest now that Debbie Dingle has been arrested but as her alter ego faces years in prison, the actress hopes that she wont be punished too harshly as she points out that it was never Debbies intention for Simon to use acid.
With Simon now arrested, he has made sure that he takes Debbie down with him and Debbie was ready to come clean and take her punishment.
Speaking about the dramatic turn of events, Charley told us: That story has been a bit muddled and confused, she never ordered the acid, the acid was just something that that guy did even though she did just want Joe to get beaten up for what hed done. Thats a very Dingle thing to do – the Dingles get people beaten up all the time and her dad is Cain, its natural territory for her for that to happen.
But obviously it did go really wrong with the acid. I am glad that its out because I would quite like to put that story to bed now for that character because it should never really have been about Debbie, it shouldve been what happened to Ross, and she was just unfortunately part of that, she didnt actually order the acid so I do think its quite a difficult one.

A lot of people said “Do you think she shouldve gone down for it?” No, but had she said “yes can you throw acid in his face?” then yes, Id want her to have her comeuppance 100%.
Of course, Debbie could still end up behind bars – which is not new territory for the character. But would she cope?
Charley mused: Shed go to prison for a long time and her kids would be outside so not great, and it would be for something that wasnt really her fault so it would be a bigger kick in the teeth. So she would not cope well.
