It was a surprise: Charles Venn admits Seann Walsh and Katya Jones scandal was a brow-raiser

The Seann Walsh/Katya Jones kissing scandal is a hot topic nationwide – and that means in the Strictly ballroom as well.

Fellow contestant Charles Venn has given his two cents on the whole situation, admitting that the kiss took the whole cast by surprise.

The Casualty actor, who is partnered with Karen Clifton on the show, told Radio Times: When that situation came about, of course it was a surprise, of course it was a brow-raiser, naturally. But it is what it is, thats life.

Playing the perfect Strictly politician, Charles added: Were all professionals, we are all getting on with our jobs, of that I can assure you.

The kissing pictures were taken on 3 October, and Seann and Katya went on to be praised for their Matrix-themed paso doble that weekend – but the following day, the pics came out in the press.

And naturally, Charles had to address the drama when he seen the pair at rehearsals.

Charles – who has been in the dance-off for the past two weeks – said: Its a really funny one, because of course when we met and I saw them, I just said, “Hi, are you guys alright?” And they said, “Yeah, were fine.” And we left it at that.

That was a bit more diplomatic than Graeme Swanns reaction to the palaver.

The cricketer, who is partnered with Oti Mabuse, couldnt resist mocking Seann when he first seen him after the scandal – but the comedian didnt take the joke too well.

Speaking on the Test Match Special podcast, Graeme said: I was the first person he saw when he walked in on the Friday, with a big grin on my face. Not at what hed done, but the situation he found himself in.

I thought hed see the lighter side as hes a comedian but he didnt. I wanted to see how awkward the introduction was, the first one since the incident, but he just looked at me and said “Please dont, mate” and walked off.

People take things in different ways, but if you play with fire youre going to get burnt, arent you.

Seann and Katya will be dancing a not-that-sexy quickstep tonight, while Charles will be performing a street dance as part of the new couples choice routine.
