Jon Cryer is set to star as Lex Luthor in the CWs Supergirl – and were just a little bit excited.
According to Variety, the 53-year-old actor will recur as iconic DC villain Lex Luthor, making his first appearance in Episode 15 of the CW dramas current fourth season.
It will mark a return to series television for the Two And A Half Men star, who won two Primetime Emmy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his work as Alan Harper on the long-running CBS comedy.
Speaking of his appointment, Supergirl executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller said securing Jon was a dream come true and extended him a warm welcome to the Supergirl family.
We are enormous fans of Jon Cryer, and he was instantly our dream actor to play the iconic role of Lex Luthor, the pair said.

Jon is a super-talent, and the fact that he played Lenny Luthor in Superman IV brings an added layer of legacy to his casting.
Were beyond thrilled to welcome Jon to the Supergirl family.
Jon marks the latest addition to the Luthor family after Supergirl bosses recently introduced his mother Lillian (played by Brenda Strong) and sister Lena (played by Katie McGrath).
And it seems as though big things are in store for the characters after Robert and Jessica revealed Lena is expected to go toe to toe with her estranged brother upon his arrival in National City.
Lex has previously been incarnated on the big screen by the likes of Jesse Eisenberg, Kevin Spacey, Gene Hackman and Lyle Talbot – so no pressure, Jon!
Luckily, this isnt the actors first run at a superhero role; the actor played Lenny Luthor, the nephew of Lex Luthor, in the 1987 feature film Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, so hes no stranger to a superpower or two.

Though Jon made his motion picture debut as a teenage photographer in 1984 romcom No Small Affair, his breakout role came in 1986 when he played Duckie Dale in cult classic Pretty in Pink.
