Ruth Wilson gives birth to her own dad in new three-part drama Mrs Wilson.
Yup, you read that right.
The 36-year-old is playing her grandma Alison Wilson in the upcoming series on family secrets and espionage which is based on her and her serial bigamist spy husband Alexander Alec Wilson (played by Iain Glen).
Speaking to Radio Times about the upcoming show, she revealed: Sometimes I could just inhabit the part and pretend the script wasnt about my family, try not to see the clapperboard that said Mrs Wilson.
But there were definitely moments of going, “What am I doing?” When youre giving birth to your father, for example.
That was absurd. But my job is absurd.
The Luther stars grandad passed away in 1963 from a heart attack in their family home in West London, and it was at that moment when her grandma Alison discovered that she wasnt the only Mrs Wilson, and that her two sons werent Alecs only children.

In fact, Alec had four wives and fathered seven children between them, never divorcing a single wife and keeping this all under wraps from each of them. And we cant even get a text back…
Based on real-life events, Ruth has confessed that playing her grandma, who passed away back in 2005, is the hardest things Ive done.
She added: Im still processing it, I think. Youre actually acting out scenes that happened.
Its quite an odd experience anyway, let alone being a family member, and it let me understand her in a much deeper and emotional way, I suppose.
Mrs Wilson premieres on BBC One on Tuesday 27th November at 9pm on BBC1.
