The highly-anticipated third season of The Last Kingdom has dropped on Netflix in its entirety and is ready to be binged by restless fans.

After two seasons on BBC Two, the historical drama was picked up by the streaming service – who helped produce the previous instalment – with all three seasons now available online.

Uhtred and King Alfred are back to continue their fight against the Vikings, but there are some new characters being thrown into the mix as well, with one in particular catching the attention of viewers.

Skade, who is played by Norwegian actress Thea Sofie Loch Næss, was seen in the trailer for the new series and she has bad news for Alfred, predicting a death of a king.

However, she also throws a spanner in the works, saying it is Uhtred of Bebbanburg who must rule.

Skade is a powerful and influential character set to play a huge role in the series, so get used to seeing Thea on your screens.

Screenwriter Stephen Butchard said of Skade: This young woman holds power over all these great Dane warriors.

They all want to be Skades boyfriend, they all wanted to be connected to Skade and she very much channels the Danes power.

The teaser trailer released prior to the new season shows Alfred the Great forced to defend his kingdom from the Norse Invaders as his health declines.

However Alfreds son, and heir to the throne, appears unwilling to take the reins from his father, leaving hero Uhtred in the prime position to claim back whats rightfully his.

The Last Kingdom is based on Bernard Cornwells books series The Saxon Stories, with this series covering the fifth and sixth books in the series.
