James Buckley thinks loudmouth lier Jay Cartwright might just lose him all respect from his kids.

The Inbetweeners actor goes so far as to say he would never give his kids – Harrison, seven, and five-year-old Jude – permission to watch the cult TV show that made him famous.

The 31-year-old says he doesnt want wife Clair Meeks two sons to ever see him behaving in that way, 10 years after he played sex-mad boaster Jay.

He said: I would never let them watch The Inbetweeners.

Its different for me as Im supposed to be their dad. I dont want them to see me behaving in that way.

I already have very little respect from them to begin with and I dont want to lose it completely.

The Inbetweeners – also starring Simon Bird, Joe Thomas and Blake Harrison – ran for three series until 2010 and focused on teenagers Will, Simon, Jay and Neil as they attempted to make it out of college and lose their virginities.

James also doesnt believe The Inbetweeners – which also spawned two movies – would be made nowadays, because people would be too offended by the shows jokes.

The 31-year-old recently told Digital Spy: Nowadays, it feels very black and white with comedy. Theres no in-between, its just, “This person said this on television – isnt that terrible?”

And its killing comedy, because youre not allowed to joke about anything, it seems. There seems to be a joke police, nowadays.

James continued: It seems to be cool at the moment to be offended by stuff, and thats a shame.

James is set to reunite with his three co-stars for a special one-off comeback show, which will be the first time the four stars have appeared on the small screen together since the sitcoms final episode, The Camping Trip in 2010.

Tom Beck, Channel 4s head of live events and commissioning editor for entertainment, said: “Will, Jay, Simon and Neil spent years failing to sneak into the best parties, so Im very pleased to throw one that theyre definitely invited to.
