There will be no second season for One Dollar. CBS All Access has opted not to go forward with another season of the series, Deadline has confirmed. It is the streaming services first cancellation since its launch in 2014.
“While One Dollar wont be coming back for another season, were incredibly proud of its artistically presented 10-episode story, which will continue to be available for streaming on the service and for future audiences to discover,” said Julie McNamara, EVP, Original Content for CBS All Access in a statement provided to Deadline. “We thank the tremendous creative team, Craig Zobel, Matt DeRoss, Alexandre Dauman, Graham Gordy and Jason Mosberg, and the wonderful cast for their hard work and dedication to this series, as well as our viewers for following One Dollars journey.”
The mystery series was set in a small rust belt town in post-recession America. It followed a one-dollar bill that changed hands and connected a group of characters involved in a shocking multiple murder. The path of the dollar bill and point of view in each episode painted a picture of a modern American town with deep class and cultural divides that spilled out into the open as the towns secrets were revealed.
One Dollar starred John Carroll Lynch, Nathaniel Martello-White, Chris Denham, Philip Ettinger, Kirrilee Berger, Gracie Lawrence, Joshua Bitton, Níkẹ Uche Kadri and Hamilton Clancy. Greg Germann, Sturgill Simpson, Aleksa Palladino with Jeff Perry and Leslie Odom Jr., rounded out the cast in recurring roles.
One Dollar was produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Anonymous Content. Craig Zobel (Compliance, The Leftovers), Matt DeRoss, Alexandre Dauman and Jason Mosberg served as executive producers. Zobel directed all episodes.
