Christmas Day spoilers: What happens in EastEnders tonight?

The world is set to come crashing down around the Slaters in EastEnders as a horrifying truth comes to the surface. How will they deal with the fall out?

The day might start off well for most, but itll descend into chaos as it progresses. Ian Beale joins the Slaters for their Christmas Day, and that in itself spells trouble. But hes not the problem for once. Kat Moon bounces between whether or not to wear her wedding ring and as Alfie tries to convince her to put it back on, he is sickened when he finds out an alarming truth that could threaten their future.

Bev finally outstays her welcome and gets a short shrift from Kat who boots her out. As tensions in the house hit an all time high Alfie decides to leave, but is he just running away? Hayley attempts to stop him saying she should go instead. But before either of them can leave a chain of events leads to a shocking truth being exposed – Alfie is the father of Hayleys baby.

Asked whether Kat and Alfie can survive this, actor Shane Richie teased itll be hard to recover from as someone will be left with blood on their hands.

Well in the past, Ive blown her up. She had a baby with someone else, its nothing! he told metro.co.uk. Someone said “Why cant Kat and Alfie just be happy together” but theres no drama in that, and sometimes the strength in Kat and Alfie is seeing the trials and tribulations, and seeing if they can get through that, and without giving too much away, this is a tough one to come back from, after you see what happens. Someones got blood on their hands is all Im saying.

Things are set to get explosive, and Shane explained why we should all be tuning in to watch.

Because there is such a big shock on Christmas Day, he told metro.co.uk. Obviously I cant tell you, but even when I read it I went “Oh, you cant do that, you cant do that, weve tipped it over the edge now.” Its just a real, massive cliffhanger on Christmas Day. I will be so intrigued to see the reaction on social media with shock and how everything plays out after that.

But we do talk about certain characters, theres a scene where Kat and Alfie talk about Dermott is mentioned so those who have watched will see the link there, he added. To not mention it, it just seemed a bit silly, so we do. But we dont harp on about it, because of course at the end of Redwater, Alfie was flatlining, Kat had been eaten by a whale or something, I dont know, whatever happened there! But there was a lot of time that passed. And then we talk about the history of where Kat and Alfie have been in Spain.
