No Ebola case in Sweden, test results show

A patient who was tested for suspected Ebola in Sweden on Friday is not suffering from the highly infectious disease, health officials said.
The patient, a young male, was first admitted to the emergency ward at Enköping Hospital on Friday, before being transferred to the clinic for infectious diseases at Uppsala University Hospital to be tested for Ebola.
Health officials said at the time that it was "still only a matter of suspicion, other diseases are also entirely possible" and after the test results came in late on Friday, it was found the man did not carry the virus.
The emergency room at Enköping Hospital, which was closed for several hours with no patients or staff being allowed to enter or exit, would reopen again at around 10pm, said Uppsala's chief of medicine.
The man, who returned to Sweden from Burundi three weeks ago but is not understood to have visited any areas affected by active Ebola outbreaks, first came in to Enköping Hospital with symptoms including blood in his vomit and stools on Friday morning. His condition then improved over the course of the day.
Friday's tests also showed he is not suffering from Yellow Fever, Dengue Fever, Marburg or Rift Valley Fever.
Ebola is a viral haemorrhagic fever and symptoms include vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, sore throat, muscular pain, headaches and both internal and external bleeding. It is potentially fatal and highly infectious, spreading through direct contact with body fluids, such as blood, sweat or saliva.
