Dozens of people have joined together in song to make a heartbreaking tribute in front of the Notre Dame cathedral.
The iconic building – which has proudly stood over the city for more than 850 years – caught fire earlier this afternoon has so far suffered untold damage.
In the gut wrenching footage, Parisians gathered together to sing Ave Maria and share in their grief as they watch the cathedral burn.

Some in the assembled crowd can be seen clutching rosary beads as they gather in front of the nearby Saint Julien Les Pauvres church just a few hundred metres away.
Notre Dame took almost 200 years to build, survived the French Revolution and Nazi occupation, but ultimately succumbed to the blaze in a matter of hours.
More than 400 fire officers have been called to flight the flames and try to stop the building from total devastation.
One fighter has reportedly been seriously injured in the line of duty, and is understood to be receiving medical treatment.
His crew is reported to have managed to stop the flames from reaching the belfry.

Authorities previously said the inferno cannot be stopped and nothing will remain in the burnt out-shell, but Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said firefighters are increasingly optimistic they can save the main towers.
The monument, affectionately refered to as Our Lady of Paris, is home to a number of artworks and religious relics, which a priest has claimed has been saved from the fire.
Earlier the iconic spire, which has dominated the Parisian skyline for more than eight centuries, collapsed as hundreds of people watched in horror.
