Daenerys Targaryen has been very protective of her dragons ever since they appeared in the finale of season one.

She has nurtured them and treated them as her children throughout her journey across Yunkai, Meereen and Westeros.

In season seven she saw one of them Viserys be killed by the Night King when he threw an ice spear, but the dragon has no been reanimated as a Wight and was used to destroy part of The Wall.

The Mother of Dragons has had to try and recover from the loss of one of her children and she has since given permission to Jon Snow to ride one of the two that remain.
