Viewers have certainly noticed that Callum Halfway Highway (Tony Clay) has been acting strangely in EastEnders lately – especially when it comes to talking about his return to the army. He recently freaked out at Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) and Tiffany Butcher (Maisie Smith) going through his army belongings but Whitney put it down to him missing the lads at the army.
Previously, Halfway was hailed as a hero for saving someones life in the field but it became clear that there was more to the story and Halfway saw himself as the opposite of someone to celebrate. Now, new pictures have revealed him attending the memorial of a former comrade.
But he is alone and without Whitney and its clear he doesnt want to be seen by the other soldiers as he makes his way in through the back. So why doesnt he want to catch up and just what did happen between them all?
As he secretly attends the service of his army friend Chris Kennedy, he turns up holding a carrier bag and flowers but evades the parents and all his Army mates by sneaking in the door behind them hoping no-one will spot him.

He is obviously embarrassed but he is later approached and comforted by Chris sister. But is the truth of the matter that it was Chris who saved Halfways life – and died in the process?
And is this what is stopping him from returning to the army?
