The reports that Ryan Hawley has quit Emmerdale after five years has left one of the soaps most passionate fandoms distraught.

Ryans character Robert Sugden and his husband Aaron Dingle (played by Danny Miller) became a hugely popular couple on the show, with fans affectionately nicknaming them Robron.

Despite initially getting together after an affair, then going through manslaughter, a shooting, a stint in prison and a massive car pile-up on a motorway, the fans love for the characters together stayed strong.

But with Ryan departing the show this year, many are wondering what will become of Suggle now.

Understandably the fans are desperate for Robert to still be on good terms with Aaron when he departs, and with the actor said to be taking a break from the show rather than outright leaving, it could be seen as a good sign.

And where does his exit leave Robert and Aarons plans to adopt a child some time in the future?

Ryan is the fourth actor to have played Robert, taking up the role in 2014 and following in the footsteps of Richard Smith, Christopher Smith and Karl Davies.
