American Horror Storys 1984 has finally been given a premiere date so we can prepare to be terrified out of our minds once again.

The forthcoming ninth season, which will take the form of an eighties slasher movie, will kick off on Wednesday 18 September on FX in the United States – so set all the alarms, folks.

We got our first glimpse of the new installment back in April when a horrifying trailer featuring a scary knife-wielding character was released (and to be honest, we still havent quite recoveed).

The 45-second clip set to Billie Eilishs Six Feet Under saw an unknown woman race through a dark forest to escape a hooded figure brandishing a weapon.

The woman eventually reached a house, but as she caught her breath her attacker plunged the blade through the wood and she let out a piercing scream.

While details of American Horror Storys 1984 still remain thin on the ground, Evan Peters has confirmed that he will be a no show despite having been one of the few remaining permanent cast members.

His decision came months after he admitted in an interview last year that the difficult roles were hurting his soul and the dark subject matter was beginning to get the better of him.

Emma Roberts on the other hand has announced she is coming back for the next installment and will be partnered up with newcomer Gus Kenworthy.

Luckily for us, American Horror Story has already been renewed for a season 10.

American Horror Story will premiere Wednesday 18 September on FX in the US.
