Soap couples never truly last the course of time – not everyone can be a Jack and Vera or a Roy and Hayley. And Emmerdale is about to split up another couple as Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) ends things with Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) over her closeness to Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards). Spotting what he believes is an intimate exchange between Faith and Bear, a jealous Eric is angry. Later, Bear puts on a wrestling display for Paddy Kirks (Dominic Brunt) birthday but Eric seizes the opportunity to stand up to Bear and fight for Faith.
Despite the clear fact that Bear would pulverise him, Eric gets into the ring and squares up to his love rival so Faith is forced to come between them. Eric feels emasculated and storms off upset and Faith is bereft, feeling that she has lost him forever.
