A twelve-year-old killed after a texting driver smashed into her car has been identified.

Stephanie Gonzalez died Sunday afternoon when she was ejected from the car driven by a relative on Highway 99 in California.

Omer Darz Gorzi, 24, slammed his Ford F-250 truck into the back of the slow-moving Acura Integra that Stephanie was a passenger in.

Police say Gorzi did not see the Acura until it was too late because of his inattention while texting on his phone.

After the initial collision, Gorzi collided with another vehicle, sending his truck airborne, before it came to a stop on its roof. Two more cars were also involved in the crash.

Stephanie was the only person to die in the five-car pile up. She was flown to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
