Donald Trump has hosted a controversial military-themed July 4 Salute To America at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.

The President of the United States used the inaugural event to pay tribute to each branch of the countrys armed forces.

It included flyovers by some of the USs most iconic planes, including the Boeing VC-25 known as Air Force One when President Trump is aboard.

Trump also treated onlookers to an appearance by the famous B-2 Stealth Bomber, which prompted chants of USA when it flew over the crowd with a deafening roar.

The president paid a lengthy tribute to the US Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard, and gave a potted history of each.

During a flyover dedicated to the Marines, Trump also gave a preview of his new Marine One helicopter, which is set to come into service in the coming months.
