The family of Cameron Boyce—known for his role in Disney Channel shows such as Jessie and Descendants, as well as Adam Sandler franchise Grown Ups—confirmed Sunday morning that the actor has died at the age of 20. Boyce “passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated,” a statement read.

Boyce had appeared in various Disney Channel series from the age of 11 onward, including Shake it Up and Good Luck Charlie, before breaking out with the role of Luke Ross on four-season series Jessie. He also appeared throughout the Disney villain-centric Descendants franchise as Carlos De Vil, son of 101 Dalmatians villain Cruella. At the time of his death, Cameron also held a role in upcoming HBO series Mrs. Fletcher, featuring Kathryn Hahn.

On the film side, Boyce portrayed the son of Adam Sandlers character in both Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2. Sandler shared his grief with the news over Instagram, writing “Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around. Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us. So much more was on the way. All our hearts are broken. Thinking of your amazing family and sending our deepest condolences.‬”
