Home and Away spoilers: John and Marilyn have a huge fight about their future

John (Shane Withington) has been spending more and more time in the city to look after Jett (Will McDonald) as he adjusts to his new place, and is starting to think he should relocate there more permanently to be his sons carer. However, his work and home life are struggling back in the Bay, as his tasks at the Surf Club pile up and Marilyn (Emily Symons) gets increasingly lonely without him around.

When John arrives home unexpectedly, he doesnt realise how much Marilyn is suffering, and focuses on staying in the Bay briefly to sort out Surf Club business. However, he ends up getting into an argument with Ryder (Lukas Radovich) and Alf (Ray Meagher) over the extra work theyve been doing. Roo (Georgie Parker) suggests he makes a plan to help everyone, but this turns out to be too little, too late.

John suggests that he does some of his work remotely, and Alf is dubious about whether he can keep everything up. He ends up giving John an ultimatum – if he cant handle all of his work tasks, hes going to have to find someone else for the job.

Stunned, John returns home, where Marilyn is looking after Raffy (Olivia Deeble) following her seizures, and complains about the situation. Expecting sympathy and support from his wife, he is floored when Marilyn delivers some blunt home truths – his actions are impacting everyone else, and this is more than just Jett. Hes being selfish.

The next morning, Marilyn is troubled, and confesses to Irene about what she said to John. When John enters the Diner, he asks to talk, and says he understands that he needs to pick up the slack in the Bay.
